Ready for the Easter break?

I suggest a city with a thousand faces, simple to organize and, although the political climate might scare, it is an absolutely safe city !! I often walked alone during the the night the way back to my hotel where I lodged without any danger or without being 'bothered'.

Istanbul will not be bored for sure, many things to do and not to be missed. Among the first definitely you can not overlook the various Bazaar

We are immersed in the scents and colors of the spices market

Another is the bazaar of books, a real hidden treasure in one of the narrow streets that surround one of the most famous markets in the world: the Grand Bazaar

And what about its mosques? Very different one from each other, literally they leave you breathless, some even physically because they are located on top of the hill, as the Suleymanye Camii Mosque (even just the view is worth the physical fatigue..)

Istanbul is also a city in the city. There are about 27 districts with its own characteristics and traditions. I suggest you not to miss a tour by feet in the Fatih, Tener and Balat district, you will be surprised as you just turn the corner to find yourself in the run-down greek neighborhood

City full of street vendors, I could not resist stopping and buying from one of the carts on the road a simit, bread donuts covered of sesame, delicious both simple and stuffed  at the time with jam or Nutella

You eat divinely, the variety of street food offered by kiosks with Kebab or balik ekmek, a sandwich with barbecued fish, garnished with fresh raw onion salad, cooked and served straight from the hands of the fishermen, to the countless suggestive small
restaurants that offer typical foods

Do not forget shopping , impossible to resist the Turkish manufacturing. Here is an example of a little gadget that I brought away with me

Do not miss a walk in the most modern part of the city, Taksim Square. Do not miss the afternoon tea with the rice pudding, you will love it !!

The best memory, is the look and the joy of fishermen along the bridge over the Bosphorus
Bye Bye Istanbul, arrivederci a presto!!

So I leave Istanbul, saying goodbye with the view of the Blue Mosque, the symbol of the city. Istanbul Bye Bye, see you soon!!

Vi racconto Expo Milano 2015 attraverso i miei occhi

Missing about a month at the end of the Expo, and certainly in my opinion is something to visit and not to be missed.

Maybe the message of the event, to convey the idea of the exhibiting countries to exploit the technology to be able to ensure healthy, safe and sufficient food for the entire population, respecting the planet and its balance, is not so strong and not evident in many of the pavilions.

But I must admit that I enjoyed a tour around the world and I do not hide that it is also exhausting (I think I have covered more than 10 km walk in a single day), not to mention the  endless queues to access some of the pavilions.

  • informatevi attraverso il racconto di amici o blog o forum in modo da scegliere i padiglioni di Vostro interesse, sarà difficile in una sola giornata visitare più di dieci (considerate che sono più di 117 in totale);
I leave some tips:
  • if you bought a open ticket , remember to sign up online before to go, otherwise you risk that access may be limited in terms of capacity for security reasons.
  • Don't miss the entrance evening !! The ticket costs only € 5 at 19 and the site closes around 23 (remember that many pavilions allow you to queue up at 20 and close at 21)
  • always present yourselves well in advance, you have to pass the controls and so you have to stay at least 30 minutes prior to the entry.
  • Inform yourself through the stories of friends or blog or forum in order to choose the pavilions of your interest, it will be difficult for a single day visit more than ten (consider that they are about 117 total).
  • Avoid the days of the weekend, but if it is not possible, go int the early morning hours.
  • Ask for information on the queues of the pavilions.

I'll tell you my top five must-see in the evening:

At first place China, the pavilion has a beautiful external structure with a huge garden of yellow flowers to visit also in the morning

You enter a room with some nice wooden umbrellas representing the sky, with twenty-four phases of the lunar calendar.

Then you proceed in the room that represents the man through objects connected to agriculture, culture and food

and finally you will be literally enchanted by the play of colors that LEDs create enjoying them going up the ramp leading to the first floor where is the terrace.

Second place for Azerbaijan, defined by experts, the real jewel of this Expo. The structure consists of three balls in curved glass and steel and the "Music Wall", an interactive wall that depicts a musical stave wood with metal inserts to recall the importance of Azerbaijani music, It's a true idyll!

Third is Belarus, it is not very large; but it's a beautiful idea the giant wheel to represent the mill, I was really impressed.

The fourth place is for Russia, even during the day with its beautiful game of mirrors; but it's really spectacular the garden terrace where you can enjoy an excellent aperitif with Beluga.

Apart from enjoying the unforgettable cocktails or dinner 'exotic' in various places, do not miss the show of the Tree of Life

The following is my top five for the day

At first place Japan, despite the endless queue, there is a guided tour of about 50 minutes. After the screening in the first room of the representation of the rain and pollution, you enter a room that satisfies the hours of waiting in the queue; with light games, it seems to float in a garden of lilies, really amazing !! ! The last room is the restaurant of the future, with multimedia dishes and a little show, really funny!

Second place for England, from the architectural point of view is the structure that struck me most. Successful in full the idea of making you feel like visiting a small bee in the center of this huge beehive.

Third is Austria, the originality exists in having recreated a real forest. They perceive up to five degrees less and it seems actually to walk in a mountain path

Fourth Morocco, you make a sensory journey through the various parts of the country. It change the smells, images and even the climate; but mostly I was inebriated by the scents typical of this country.

In fifth place France, the beautiful structure of wooden arches with the typical products and beyond. And it deserves a special mention for the boulangerie at the exit of the pavilion, if you love crepes not miss the chance to enjoy them, they are superb!

Surely many are the pavilions to visit and some of them will hit you from the outside. Among these pavilions that struck me aesthetically Israel or the glittering pavilion dell'Ecaudor ..

Other curiosity ... if you want to buy the hat in the photos, go to the pavilion of Vietnam and if you want to get free draw henna on hands go to the Hall of Qatar.
