New Year's Eve in Valencia

Vi racconto i miei primi giorni del nuovo anno trascorsi in una delle città più moderne della Spagna: Valencia. 

I'll tell you my first days of the new year spent in one of the most modern cities in Spain: Valencia.

Lo ammetto se fosse per me, sarei sempre in vacanza!! Adoro girovagare, scoprire usanze e luoghi nuovi e devo dire che la Spagna si addice proprio ai miei ritmi. Sono una gran dormigliona e trovare un luogo dove la mattina uscire prima delle dieci è insensato, perché tanto è tutto chiuso, è proprio quello che fa per me!!! E poi che dire è veramente godereccia.. Puoi fermarti ad ogni ora nei tanti locali che offrono tapas per meno di due euro, ne ho fatto incetta, troppo tentata di assaggiarle tutte!

I admit that I would always be on holiday !! I love to wander, discover new places and customs and I have to say that Spain is suitable to my own rhythms. I am a great sleeper and finding a place where if you go out in the morning before ten is foolish, because all the shops and activities are closed, it is just right for me !!! And then it's really pleasurable .. You can stop at any time in the clubs that offer tapas for less than two Euros, I did stock up, too tempted to try them all!

Sicuramente da provare anche l'acqua di Valencia, un cocktail a base di Cava o champagne, succo d'arancia, vodka e gin.

You must definitely try even the water in Valencia, a cocktail made of Cava or Champagne, orange juice, vodka and gin

Impossibile rinunciare alla paella, tra l'altro la prima vera paella nasce proprio a Valencia. Ne ho gustata una davvero eccezionale presso il ristorante Navarro, vicino a piazza dell'Ayuntamiento, consiglio vivamente.

You can not give up the paella, inter alia, the first real paella is born in Valencia. I enjoyed a really great at the restaurant Navarro, near Plaza Ayuntamiento, I highly recommend it

Sono partita il 31 a mattina lasciando stranamente nella mia amata città (Roma) un freddo polare e trovando più di 22° a Valencia. 

La sera di capodanno l'ho trascorsa rispettando la tradizione dei valenciani che si riuniscono in piazza del Ayuntamiento dove attendono gli ultimi dodici rintocchi alla mezzanotte mangiando un chicco d'uva per augurasi buono auspicio nei mesi del nuovo anno. Ho provato anche io questa usanza rischiando di strozzarmi però si tenta tutto come porta fortuna ;-)

Nei giorni seguenti ho passeggiato per la città tra la serenità offerta dai giardini del Turia, pensare che questi giardini sono nati nel 1986 sul letto del fiume Turia che fu deviato dopo la grande inondazione del 1957 per evitare altri catastrofi.

I started at 31 in the morning leaving strangely in my beloved city (Rome), freezing cold and finding more than 22° in Valencia.

I spent  the evening of New Year in the tradition of the Valencians who gather in Plaza Ayuntamiento where they await the last twelve chimes at midnight eating a grape to wish good luck for the months of the new year. I also tried this custom threatening to strangle because you try everything for good luck ;-)

In the following days I strolled through the city between the serenity offered by the Turia Gardens, thinking that these gardens were created in 1986 on the bed of the River Turia which was diverted after the great flood of 1957 in order to prevent other disasters.

It was also pleasant wander through the various stalls of the Central Market

 e attraversare le porti medievali delle Torri di Quart e delle Torri di Serranos, addentrandosi in piccoli vicoli in cui sono presenti divertenti murales.

and go through the ports of medieval Quart Towers and Serranos Towers, penetrating into small alleys where there are fun murals.

Sicuramente quello che più colpisce di Valencia è l'opera realizzata da Calatrava, la città delle Arti e delle scienze. Una vera e propria opera architettonica che ha dato alla città un volto unico e indimenticabile.

Surely what is most striking of Valencia is the work done by Calatrava, the City of Arts and Sciences. An incredible and great architectural work that gave the city a face unique and unforgettable.
