In a land with lunar landscape I spent the first ten days of August, among waterfalls, geysers, glaciers, cliffs and endless stretches of black beach

This is my story of Iceland, a territory in the wild, where to meet a center housing must overcome km of stretches of countryside, where nature is the host and the human presence is almost inexistent.

We are immersed in the absolute quiet, being able to meditate and enjoying the many wonders that the earth offers us.

It 's hard to remember that we are in the summer, the temperature is never above 10 degrees and the gusts of wind, while we walk along the beach, remind us of beautiful winter days; only the sunny hours remind us of the season in which we find ourselves. Many things struck me and to avoid boring you, I take inspiration from the book that I was going to read during the trip, so I will use the method of 'Ten Things'.

Le mie Dieci Cose utili da sapere.
My Ten Useful things to know.
1. Clothing: Always remember to bring a raincoat or Gore-Tex coats and rubber boots. The weather changes constantly and the use of the umbrella is absolutely useless.  Of course do not forget the technical equipment and, considering the temperatures, I recommend the category 'WARM' Helly Hansen
2. Gasoline: if you rent a car to patrol the area, remember that in gas stations do not accept cash, only credit card. You can buy prepaid cards at the shop of the petrol pump. 'N1' is the station most common. Do not worry, there are no problems of supplies, the gas stations are the only thing you will encounter often, just be careful that Sunday could close at 2 P.M.
3. Accommodations: If you love camping this is the place for you! And if you want to add to this a little comfort, at the campsites there are comfortable wooden cottages. A little curiosity: to put the lock on the door (even in very normal hotel rooms) you must pull up the handle to the right.

Esperienza favolosa!!

4. Thermal Baths: if you want to take a bath in the Blue Lagoon, you need to pre-book it, but honestly I didn't do it and they made me come in without any delay. They will give you a bracelet with which you can close the locker where you drop your clothes. You access to the showers and then you go to the lagoon. Do not bother to bring anything except costume (although it also can be purchased at the boutique); depending on the type of input they will provide a bathrobe, slippers and towel, as well as a kit for the facial mask (the cost of this input is 80 Euro, the base is 50 euros, if you want a massage cost the cost increase, but I do not remember how much..). Anyway fabulous experience !

5. Food: you will enjoy the lamb, burgers and a superlative arctic char, but what you can not miss is a dish of langoustine in the town of Hofn (excellent !!!!)

6. Transport: strange to say, but the most common is the hitch, but there are also countless cyclists, my true heroes, because, given the weather conditions, to stay in power when the wind moves the cockpit of a 4x4 is not easy! If you opt for the car, I recommend a small off-road, the roads are not always passable

7. Curiosity to visit that you will not find in guidebooks: just before the headland of Dyrholaey, at the beach of Sólheimasandu there is the wreck of a plane of '73. The pilot was forced to make an emergency landing, the crew survived impact and managed to get to safety, but the plane was abandoned in place.

8. Fauna and Flora: the immense herds of horses that you encounter during the trip are very striking , if you love horse riding will be very easy to organize a hike in these fantastic plains. What also impressed me is the endless expanses of cobalt blue colored Arctic lupine, they will leave you breathless !!

9. Religion: the main is Lutheranism, in almost all the villages you will find small enclosed churches in which there is a tiny cemetery

10. Shopping: shopping in Iceland will not be very easy, the spread brand and with different technical materials is North 66. If you take a walk in Akureyri, take a trip in outlet where you might find some good offers. And at only 10 km from Akureyri do not miss the charming Christmas store THE CHRISTMAS GARDEN- Slétta, Eyjafjarðarsveit - GPS POINTS N65° 34' 47.780" W18° 5' 30.700"
